Basically, we have a radically different sports landscape in Canada as MLS is set to open the 2017 season. Unlike last season, the sports media will have its eyes squarely set on the NHL.

Then, on Thursday came the announcement that, as part of its national English-language television deal with TSN, seven MLS games will be broadcast coast-to-coast on CTV. That’s a massive sign of BellMedia getting behind the MLS property, with the same kind of fervour we have seen dedicated to the Canadian Football League in the past. Of the seven national CTV games, five will feature match-ups between the Canadian sides.

The Vancouver Southsiders posted this open letter on Tuesday night. They have stated that they aren't asking their members to boycott away games in the United States, but there won't be any "Caps on Tour" organized trips across the border as long as the current U.S. restrictions are in place.
