No Canadian team — club or national side — will ever have as easy a time of a match in Central America as Toronto FC did Tuesday night in its 3-0 win over El Salvador’s CD Aguila in CONCACAF Champions League action.

The Canadian men’s national team will go into its two biggest World Cup qualifiers in more than two decades without the country’s all-time leading scorer.

The signs were placed strategically alongside the pitch at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City. And the advertising buy was approved by NASL Commissioner David Downs.

“You can understand it during the game to lose momentum or be tired but I think in a game like this we should be ready from the get-go and give them more of a battle.”

With Will Johnson out because of yellow-card accumulation and striker Olivier Occean not even making the trip to Central America because of an injury picked up in Friday’s win, Hart will have to make some changes.

"We had a situation where we were not paying attention and fell asleep as a team and that was the difference," said Panamanian goalkeeper Jaime Penedo.

It's a goal that will loom large in Canada's history, yet it was completed before almost anyone realized what happened.

“In the past when we’ve had games that were very important to Canada’s program and to the result I think we wanted it too bad,” said Hart of Canada’s failings of the past. “At times we played in such a way that we try to win the game in the first half or in the first 10 minutes or whatever so it’s important to understand to create some sort of balance. Yes, the game is important but how you approach the game.”

Stephen Hart offered no surprises in naming the Canadian men's naional-team roster for Sept. 7 and 11 World Cup qualifiers against Panama.

"There's no way that was a 3-1 game," said TFC head coach Paul Mariner. "I thought we were a little tentative in the first half and in the second half we played much better… We matched them for 89 minutes."
