But Gloucester Celtic, from the Ottawa area, can boast it’s the best senior amateur men’s team in the country. A 3-0 win over the Surrey United Firefighters in Halifax Monday was all the proof needed. The win gave Celtic the Challenge Trophy, emblematic of men’s senior soccer supremacy.

Canada is already preparing its men’s side for the next round of U-20 World Cup qualifying.

UBC, which has lost just once this season, swept its two-game weekend series with UNBC in Prince George, winning 4-1 and 3-0. Milad Mehrabi scored three times over the course of the two wins, while Reynold Stewart scored twice in the opener against UNBC.

Needless to say, neither Boakai nor Lopez will be needing the tuques in Dubai, where Canada will face Austria, Iran and Argentina in the group stage of the U-17 World Cup.

On Thursday, the Canadian Soccer Association released a list of 24 players who will represent Canada at this October’s U-17 World Cup. Of the 24, 21 are on the proper roster, while three are alternates. While FIFA has been notified which three players are alternates, who can only play in order to replace an injured member of the main roster, Fleming wouldn’t reveal which three were on the outside of the bubble.
