Canada is already preparing its men’s side for the next round of U-20 World Cup qualifying.

Though Canada fell short of its goal of qualifying for the U-20 World Cup this year, the Coach Phillip Dos Santos has named a roster of Canadian U-18 prospects who will head down to Guatemala for a pair of friendlies against that Central American nation’s U-18 squad. The matches will go Oct. 11 and Oct. 13.

This U-18 squad will give us a glimpse of the core of players the Canadian Soccer Association is eyeing for the next U-20 World Cup cycle.

Dos Santos is also the technical director for the Ottawa Fury, which is heading to NASL next season.

“This will be another important camp for these boys, we will continue to build and reinforce on the identity and quality of play we want to see in our youth National Teams,” said Dos Santos in a release. “The boys will play two quality international games against a good Central American side, they will be exposed to a different environment and challenge. The objective is always for the players to grow and assimilate the behaviours we want them to have as a team.”
