Six Canadians to try their luck at NASL combine By Steven Sandor Posted on February 7, 2012 1 0 687 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Kenny Caceros Six Canada-eligible players will head to Fort Lauderdale this weekend, trying to land jobs with FC Edmonton or one of the other seven NASL teams. The NASL released its roster for its combine, which goes from Friday to Sunday. And it includes a significant number of Canadian players looking for contracts, as well as a substantial cadre of Capital City FC alumni. Former Canadian U-20 player Anthony Di Biase, who had a January trial with FC Edmonton, will be at the combine. Di Biase, who as a teen spent some time with the youth wing of Belgian side Olympic Charleroi, was with the Hamilton Rage of the PDL in 2011. Ottawa native Kenny Caceros, one of the stars of the Capital City FC team that got to the Canadian Soccer League final in 2011, will be at the combine. Caceros played 64 times for Syracuse University. Former Montreal Impact prospect Kevin Cossette, who got into a handful of second-division games with that team, is looking for a new home. Evan Harding has more than 60 games of USL experience, and has spent most of his pro career with the Richmond Kickers. While Harding calls the U.S. home, he would still be eligible for Canada, as he was born in Langley, B.C. Adam Janssen, a Toronto native who’s the former starting goalkeeper at Long Island University, is also looking to break into the NASL ranks. Dalvir Mahli, who played for Canada at various youth levels, rounds out the list of Canadian trialists. Capital City FC is sending some of its foreign-based talent to the camp to keep Caceros company. American keeper Clint Irwin and defender Sam Roca will also be on hand. Irwin made a few headlines for a scoring a last-gasp goal in 2011 CSL action for the Ottawa-based team. And former New York Red Bulls prospect Roca, will look to move back up the professional ranks. Jamaican-born midfielder Ramon Bailey, who played with Portugal FC of the CSL, is also on the list.
