David Monsalve, who made one MLS appearance with Toronto FC back in 2007, is back with a Canadian pro club.

Monsalve announced on Twitter Friday that his trial with FC Edmonton has been successful.

“Officially an FC Edmonton player! Looking forward to the challenge!” Monsalve posted on Friday afternoon.

Monsalve, who has one senior cap with the Canadian national squad, had been on trial with FC Edmonton for the past several weeks. FCE has been searching for a goalie to add to the roster after Lance Parker (compound fracture; right arm) and Jaswinder Gill (back) went down with injuries. No. 1 keeper Rein Baart has been backed up by amateur Justin Ammar for the past several weeks.

Monsalve stayed back in Edmonton and trained with the reserves.

FC Edmonton has yet to announce the move, and wouldn’t be expected to make it official until the team returns from its three-game road trip, which concludes Saturday in Fort Lauderdale.
