Both Toronto FC and the Montreal Impact took part in full scrimmages Wednesday as they took advantage of a break in the schedule at the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic in Orlando, Fla.

A trialist-laden Toronto FC lineup fought back to tie Sporting Kansas City, 3-3. Supplemental draft pick Ashton Bennett scored twice in the second half to bring the Reds back from a 3-1 deficit.

Minnesota Stars left back Justin Davis, Canadian national-teamer Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault, just-arrived ex-Earthquake defender Jacob Hustedt and former Norwich City and Portsmouth veteran Darel Russell were all trialists in the Reds’ starting lineup. Carlos Martinez, another young trialist, came in the game and set up one of Bennett’s two second-half markers.

Soony Saad drew a penalty and scored for SKC, while Adama Mbengue, the Orlando City forward who’s on trial with the MLS side, opened the scoring just three minutes in.

Meanwhile, the Impact dropped a 2-1 decision to Orlando City; the USL side jumped to a 2-0 lead before Montreal midfielder Collen Warner was sent off for a dangerous tackle.

Dennis Chin and Ian Fuller scored for OCFC, before Calum Mallace clawed one back for the 10-man Impact.

Like TFC, Montreal started 11 players who, for the most part, won’t make it out of camp or will be depth players. Brad Stuver, who the Impact took with the 32nd pick of the 2013 SuperDraft, gave up both goals, while youngster Wandrille Lefevre and Karl Ouimette patrolled the centre of the defence as Orlando was taking the lead.
