Former FC Edmonton and Montreal Impact players are being hinted as the key parts of a Quebec “national” team that will compete in a Marseille tournament at the end of June.

The news has been out there for a few days — but on Tuesday, Toronto FC finally made it official: Midfielder Hogan Ephraim is no longer on loan to the club.

Former FC Edmonton and Toronto FC keeper David Monsalve has found himself a new club.

The newly crowned Canadian champions founds out Monday that they will face the San Jose Earthquakes and a to-be-decided Guatemalan league qualifier in CCL Group 5. The Impact could not have asked for a kinder draw.

"The last 30 minutes of the game really caused us a few problems. The U.S. finally got Morgan released and that was the game plan — to keep Morgan and Wambach quiet," said Herdman.

Before FIFA can officially be approached, the player in question must be invited to a camp or be named to the roster of the new national team. The invite from the national association must come BEFORE a petition can be made to FIFA.

Canadian national team coach Miller had nothing but praise for Bekker, saying the TFC midfielder’s service was excellent, and that Canada could have won the game 4-1 or 4-2.

"For me, it was a chance to get back into Europe," said de Guzman, who was a key part of the Deportivo La Coruna squad and regarded as one of La Liga's better holding midfielders before the move to MLS. "For six months, I got to play every minute of every game. Even though the club struggled it was a chance for me to showcase myself.
