Quintessentially Canadian Power Rankings, MLS Week 23/NASL Week 17

Over the weekend, the Canadians MLS and NASL teams combined started a total of just six Canadians. (edited)

The Ottawa Fury and Toronto FC started two each; FC Edmonton, one. Montreal Impact, one. As per the new normal, the Whitecaps went with an entirely foreign starting XI.

And, Canadian minutes are trending downward throughout MLS and NASL. The top five teams, in terms of giving Canadians playing times, were all down like a bad day on the TSE.

Good news? Mauro Eustaquio scored his first NASL goal, as Ottawa remained the hottest team in either of North America’s top two divisions.

Currently, there are only eight Canadians who have got over 1,000 minutes of playing time each in either MLS or NASL this season. To put that in perspective, 1,000 minutes is just a little more than 11 full games.

I’m curious if you have been tracking the stats for the Cup competitions and how they compare?
I’m talking about the Voyageurs Cup, US Open Cup, CONCACAF Champions League.
Are Canadians getting any run-outs in those competitions?
If Tiebert were to get any minutes, especially in Champions League, surely that is just as important as league play? You could argue that for the other competitions as well.

Will Johnson had played in 9 games, not 8

With all the drama with the Impact camp, I don’t see Bernier getting any more minutes outside of non-league play.

What happened with Teibert? I know he was gone for the Gold Cup, but he hasn’t been involved in many games since retuning.
