NASL to review red cards to FC Edmonton’s Lemire, Baart By Charles Posted on May 2, 2011 Comments Off on NASL to review red cards to FC Edmonton’s Lemire, Baart 0 605 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Chris LemireThe NASL’s disciplinary committee will review the red cards handed out to FC Edmonton FC keeper Rein Baart and forward Chris Lemire on Tuesday. Both were sent off in Sunday’s 5-0 loss to the Montreal Impact, in front of NASL commissioner David Downs, who traveled to Edmonton to witness the first-ever league game at Foote Field. Baart was sent off for having his studs up, which raked across the chest of Impact midfielder Luke Kreamelmayer. Both were going for a ball just inside the FC Edmonton penalty area. After the penalty kick was awarded, several FCE players confronted the official to protest the call — and Lemire was the most animated of the bunch. Lemire and Baart will both be out for Saturday’s date with the Atlanta Silverbacks. But the NASL will look to see if either card warrants any further discipline. FC Edmonton is off to Toronto to prepare for Wednesday’s second leg of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship. FCE trails Toronto FC 3-0 after the first leg — and FCE midfielder Shaun Saiko is out for leg two because of the red card he received in the first game.
