Maybe Ottawa soccer supporters are muttering “Admiral, Admiral…” like Khan in the second Star Trek flick. Or maybe not.

But, next season, he wants to be terrorizing NASL defenders. He wants to remain in Ottawa, but make the move up to the full pro ranks with the Fury’s expansion side, which begins NASL play in 2014.

The Fury has gone with the shield.

"I need tough challenges in my life," Dos Santos said from Sao Paulo in a teleconference. "My family is used to it. When I first spoke with John it was clear that this was a big challenge."

The Ottawa Fury FC will unveil its new logo at a local pub during the Champions League final.

Ottawa soccer supporters have until April 8 to select which of three prospective logos they like the best for the new NASL side that will begin play in 2014.

After taking thousands of suggestions from fans through an online contest, the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group decided that the Fury name fit the club just fine.

While the name hasn’t been picked, Pugh said many of the suggestions were linked to the city’s logging heritage and its closeness to the river. Rivermen, Loggers, Voyageurs are all names that came in. And football purists also suggested names like Ottawa City, Rovers and Rangers.

The Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group has confirmed that it received 4,107 entries into its name-the-teams contest.

Canadian soccer supporters have until Dec. 16 to submit their names of choice for the new Ottawa NASL franchise, which is set to kick off in 2014.
