FC Edmonton is waiting on the Scottish Football Association to finish filing some paperwork to the Canadian Soccer Association to make the transfer official.

FC Edmonton’s home matches have been broadcast on CBC.ca all season long — now the NASL team’s Aug. 4 telecast will jump to CBC TV.

Despite being up a man for an hour, FC Edmonton couldn’t score — and, to make matters worse for the home team, the Eddies were caught at the back late in the game, as Luke Mulholland’s goal gave the Tampa Bay Rowdies a 1-0 win.

Philippe Davies will be reunited with former Whitecaps’ teammate Long Tan — in Division 3, with the Richmond Kickers of the USL.

Team general manager Tom Leip confirmed that the team has placed a liquor-licence application to the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, but have yet to get it back with a stamp of approval.

“No, we aren’t comfortable with financing a Division-1 league,” said Leip. “Our owners are not interested in moving up a league. We have a lot of respect for the the kind of financial commitment MLS owners have made to create Division 1, and we certainly don’t want to tread on their territory. And, certainly the Cosmos only came to us after every road to MLS had been exhausted.”

After bringing in American midfielder Bryan Arguez on loan from the Montreal Impact earlier this week, FC Edmonton began auditioning a new import trialist Thursday.

But, now, after playing in just four reserve matches with the Impact this season, Arguez is looking forward to getting back into the rhythm of playing again.

“You can plan to play the Mexicans, you can talk about what you have to do against the Mexicans, but it’s nothing like when you actually have to play them, the way they pass and move,” said Gardner.

And Eddies' director of soccer Joe Petrone confirmed that FCE has an option to acquire Arguez outright at the end of the season.
