Chilean striker Yashir Pinto has landed in Edmonton.The former Chilean U-20 member will be on loan from South American powerhouse Colo-Colo to FC Edmonton.

University of Saskatchewan midfielder Josh Northey and Oakland University defender (and Toronto Lynx alumnus) Julian Konner McNamara reportedly made the strongest showings of the 12 Canadians who participated in the combine.

Former Chilean U-20 forward and Colo-Colo product Yashir Pinto has confirmed through his Twitter account that “if all goes well,” he would join FC Edmonton as early as Monday.

A dozen Canadian prospects are among the 102 prospects working out at the United Soccer Leagues’ combine, which kicked off Thursday in Bradenton, Fla.

The players were on hand at St. Joseph Composite High School, where they will attend school while they train and play for the reserve squad. Through the school’s individual self-directed learning program, the kids get core subjects in the morning, have study/consultation time and should be free to train by the early afternoon.

The reserve team will compete in the Alberta Major Soccer League, which has a playing level that’s about equal to the Canadian Soccer League in Ontario and Quebec. The junior players will play with FCE's non-starters. But the 12 junior players are ineligible to be called up to play in NASL this season

Midfielder Shaun Saiko, forward/winger Kyle Porter and newly signed goalkeeper Michal Misiewicz all got calls .

NASL released the full league schedule Thursday, and all but three of FC Edmonton’s home dates will feature 2 p.m. Sunday start times.
