FIFA’s calendar has indicated that Canada will face Australia on Oct. 16 in London, England.

Levis, who also led the Victoria Highlanders to a final-four spot in the PDL over the summer, scored both goals to the lead the University of Saskatchewan Huskies to a 2-1 win over the University of Winnipeg in Saturday’s Canada West curtain-raiser.

So, veterans such as Iain Hume, Julian de Guzman, Dwayne De Rosario and Atiba Hutchinson will be making the trip, as will youngsters such as the Vancouver Whitecaps’ Residency’s Jackson Farmer and the Montreal Impact Academy’s Jeremy Gagnon-Lapare.

“It’s amazing,” said Levis, a Saskatoon native, over the phone from Vancouver. “It’s a dream come true. It’s something I’ve worked towards my whole life. Even if nothing comes out of this trial, the experience itself will be worth it. I will take as much as I can from the experience, to learn as much as I can from the players and the coaching staff.”

The first two games the men’s national team will play under the watch of new head coach Benito Floro will see Mauritania, currently ranked No. 151 in the world, providing the opposition.

But Canadian Soccer Association General Secretary Peter Montopoli, who is with the FIFA contingent as they tour the Women’s World Cup 2015 sites, said that the expectation is that the training grounds used by the world’s top national sides will be up to the same quality as the artificial surfaces in the stadiums.
