Sinisa Ubiparipovic

The Montreal Impact became the scourge of play-by-play men across the NASL with the signing of former New York Red Bulls’ midfielder Sinisa Ubiparipovic.

The Bosnian-born midfielder spent four seasons with the New York Red Bulls (2007-2010) and will be with the Impact for the remainder of the 2011 NASL season, the club announced Tuesday.

“Sinisa is a creative midfielder who can provoke the opposing defense and make the decisive pass,” said Impact sporting director Nick De Santis in a release issued by the club. “He did well at training over the last few days. He’s a player with great qualities that will help us at midfield. He already knows several players so I don’t think he will have trouble fitting in the team.”

Ubiparipovic played in the 2008 MLS Cup, which the Red Bulls — who barely scraped into the playoffs and then went on a Cinderella run to get to the final — lost to the Columbus Crew by a 3-1 score.
