Powley and James are the seventh and eighth players on the FCE roster ahead of the 2019 Canadian Premier League season. Of those eight, seven are Edmontonians.

“It was OK because for us this was a training game,” said Floro. “The only difference between this and training is that the opponent is a national team with a good defensive structure. They made it difficult to develop our attack. But it’s a good test for us.”

“I have no concern with who will play in goal tomorrow night,” said Miller.

“We probably have five or six years to get it right,” said Dunfield.

Injuries to fullback Andres Fresenga and forward Frank Jonke have made a thin Canadian squad even thinner ahead of Saturday’s friendly with Denmark.

Officially, Porter is one of five unattached players Miller has called into team, as the forward has yet to accept a new contract offer from FCE.

The Edmonton striker was finally cleared to play for Valerenga, the team that signed him at the end of August. He came in as a 60th-minute sub Monday night in a 1-0 loss to Sogndal in Norwegian league action.

“I think I have six months left on my contract and I have to really sit down and think about this,” said Hart. “Personally I did my best but with this result I don’t think the country’s fans will forgive me.”

“You can understand it during the game to lose momentum or be tired but I think in a game like this we should be ready from the get-go and give them more of a battle.”
