The Montreal Impact will remain the Montreal Impact when the club makes the move to MLS next season.

The team announced Monday that it will retain the name in 2012, ending all speculation that the club would rebrand itself for MLS. Instead, the Impact follows the lead set by three other Div-2 clubs — Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps — that all kept their names when they made the moves to MLS.

But, like the three other teams, the Impact will unveil new jerseys and logo in time for its MLS debut. That’s a must-do, considering all MLS apparel is made by Adidas, and the Impact has Legea manufacturing its kit for its final NASL season.

As well, the club began the push to sell season tickets for 2012.

“Prices will range between $250 and $1,250, in comparison to the current prices ranging from $160 to $1,400,” the club announced.

“We are only a few months away from the biggest change in the history of the club,” said Joey Saputo, president of the Montreal Impact and Saputo Stadium in a release issued by the club. “MLS is the most prestigious league in North America. We hope to experience this transition with our most dedicated fans, our season ticket holders. We are thanking them today for their support by offering them the first opportunity to be part of the MLS adventure.”

Of course, with the capacity of the stadium being raised from 13,034 to 20,341, the Impact can greatly increase revenue without having to make major increased to ticket prices.

That’s a little more affordable than the Vancouver Whitecaps’ season-ticket packages. When the Whitecaps announced their packages for 2011, they ranged from $319 to $1,482.

Current NASL season-ticket holders will have priority to buy the season tickets for 2012. Fans who don’t have NASL season seats can put themselves on a priority list. A $50 deposit is required.

A southeast family zone in the renovated Stade Saputo will be reserved for single-game seats only, to encourage young fans to come out to games.
