Impact acquires Argentine Maximiliano Rodriguez on loan By Charles Posted on April 8, 2013 Comments Off on Impact acquires Argentine Maximiliano Rodriguez on loan 0 773 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter While Toronto FC works on bringing in new players from Argentina, the rival Montreal Impact announced a loan deal to bring in 19-year-old midfielder Maximiliano Rodriguez from Argentinos Juniors. A former youth player with Atletico Madrid, Rodriguez returned to Argentina in 2009. He’s been with Argentinos Juniors since 2010, but has made just eight senior appearances — which isn’t surprising considering he’s still a teenager. Rodriguez will give the Impact a little more depth at the midfield position. But while the news is making some waves in Montreal, it doesn’t register in Argentina. In fact, the Argentinos Juniors website has no mention of the loan deal being made. “He is a young player that has a lot of potential,” Impact sporting director Nick De Santis said in a release issued by the club. “We have been following him for over six months and I also had the chance to see him play in Argentina. He is a technically gifted player with a lot of raw talent. We feel that with some time on the field training with our experienced players and coaches, his talent can be refined. He is a young developmental project with a big upside.”
