FC Edmonton trialist Antoniuk gets shot with FC Dallas By Charles Posted on March 11, 2011 Comments Off on FC Edmonton trialist Antoniuk gets shot with FC Dallas 0 664 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Dan Antoniuk’s trial with FC Edmonton may have gone too well. That’s because he impressed not only his team, but the team it was playing against. The San Diego Sockers, Antoniuk’s current indoor-soccer club, confirmed Friday that he won’t be returning to Cincinnati for the Professional Arena Soccer League’s North American Championship. Not because Antoniuk is still with FC Edmonton, but because he accepted a one-game trial with FC Dallas. FC Edmonton opened its preseason training with a match against FC Dallas — and while Antoniuk, a long-time veteran of the lower leagues in North America, didn’t score, he was solid. And, Antoniuk did score in FC Edmonton’s second preseason tilt, against the University of New Mexico. Antoniuk would be eligible to appear in FC Dallas’ preseason game Saturday against Chivas USA. While Antoniuk would be a longshot to impress FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman enough to stick with the MLS club, his trial with Edmonton has been solid — and with a history of USL experience, including a season with the Montreal Impact, he represents the kind of Div.-2 veteran that a very young FC Edmonton lineups needs to bring a steadying influence.
