The Edmonton native and Canadian national-team regular scored with a flying header in the second minute, as Dresden beat lower-league German side ZFC Meuselwitz 4-0 in a friendly on Friday. He also had another great chance to score in the ninth minute. Ricketts played just the first half as manager Ralf Loose continues to look as many players as he can in the preseason — and Ricketts is far from the only trialist to appear with the club. Ricketts now has three goals in his first two friendlies as his trial with Dresden continues. Dresden finished ninth in the Bundesliga 2. last season, and is looking to improve its lineup for the upcoming season. Ricketts is out of contract after he was able to terminate his deal with Romanian lower-league side Politehnica Timisoara, which was no longer able to pay him after the club’s financial difficulties forced the league authorities and national association relegate it to the second division.
