Donovan got the nod by leading the ballots cast by the members of the North American Soccer Reporters. Donovan scored six goals in the month of May, as the Galaxy surged to the top of the Western Conference, albeit by playing a heck of a lot more league games than the recognized big dogs on the block, Real Salt Lake. Donovan leads MLS with eight goals. But the poster boy of U.S. soccer is with his national team as it prepares for the Gold Cup — and his presence was felt as the Galaxy played D.C. United to a dire 0-0 draw Friday night. How The 11 voted: Donovan.
