David is a Goliath: Monsalve posts third straight clean sheet for AC Oulu By Steven Sandor Posted on July 6, 2013 Comments Off on David is a Goliath: Monsalve posts third straight clean sheet for AC Oulu 0 583 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter David Monsalve David MonsalveCanadian keeper David Monsalve has posted his third clean sheet in a row for Finnish second-division side AC Oulu. The former Toronto FC and FC Edmonton keepr went the full 90 minutes on Saturday, as his side beat JIPPO 1-0. That marked the third straight goose-egg posted by Monsalve, who hasn’t allowed a goal in Finnish league play since June 18. Over those three matches, Oulu has secured seven of nine points and moved up to fourth in the second-division table, nine points back of first-place SJK, but with a game in hand. Monsalve signed with the Finnish side in early June as a free agent. He was released by the Eddies just before training camp opened in February. While the team announced it was a mutual-consent release, Monsalve told The 11 (CLICK HERE) that he wanted to stay with the club and was cut via e-mail. AC Oulu is in a hectic portion of its schedule and will play again midweek, so Monsalve will have the chance to make it four clean sheets in a row in fairly short order.
