The Norwich City striker gave the Canaries the win in a knockout league cup match that looked destined to be headed to extra time. Jackson scored in the 87th minute to give Norwich a 2-1 win over Tottenham. Norwich moves on to the tournament’s final eight. Jackson came on as a 68th-minute sub, then scored 19 minutes later, pouncing on a rebound after Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris made the initial save on a header from Grant Holt. Right place, right time for Jackson. Norwich had trailed 1-0 up to the 84th minute, then snatched two late goals to win the game. The rally began when Jan Vertonghen was credited with an own goal to bring Jackson’s team level. American midfielder Clint Dempsey had the chance to draw Spurs level in the 89th minute, but his penalty was parried by Canaries’ keeper Mark Bunn. So, while it won’t happen in CONCACAF qualifying, Canadian fans can at least claim this match as a day where we had the last laugh over our soccer rivals to the south. The American’s cup run ends, while the Canadian lives on to fight another day.
