Young Impact side earns scoreless draw with the Union By Steven Sandor Posted on February 16, 2013 Comments Off on Young Impact side earns scoreless draw with the Union 0 689 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Karl Ouimette Karl OuimetteThe Montreal Impact played a bonus preseason friendly Friday night in Jacksonville, far away from the prying eyes who might be watching on web streams. A youthful Impact side, with Evan Bush in goal, drew a Philadelphia Union team that had far more MLS experience on its side. The final score — 0-0. The Impact and Union are currently both based in Orlando, Fla. for the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic pre-season tourney. But both took what was an off-day in the tournament to head up the highway to Jacksonville to give their squads a little more game action. In front of Bush, the Impact started with a back four that featured three-quarters local products. Wandrille Lefevre, though born in France, has come up through the Impact’s Academy system; Maxim Tissot, who set up the Impact’s winning goal against Sporting Kansas City last week, and Karl Ouimette, who made the move from the academy ranks to the Impact’s MLS roster last season. That’s a far cry from the backline we can expect to see the Impact field at the start of the regular season, with thirtysomethings like Nelson Rivas, Matteo Ferrari and, of course, Alessandro Nesta all expected to vie for the major first-team minutes.
