Toronto FC adds Burgos Jr. to roster By Steven Sandor Posted on March 21, 2012 1 0 616 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter The speculation is over. The signature is on the contract. Toronto FC announced Wednesday that the club has signed midfielder Efrain Burgos Jr., who was on trial with the Reds during the preseason and had been widely expected to sign. “Burgos is a player that has many qualities we like and he can play our style of football,’ said Toronto FC Head Coach and Technical Director Aron Winter in a release issued by the club.”He did well during preseason and we felt he can add depth and quality to our midfield.” Burgos was actually drafted by the Reds back in 2011 — in the third round. He played with both San Jose State University and California Polytechnic State University, and has been called up to El Salvador’s national three times, but has never actually got onto the field for a senior national game for his country. Or, more like, one of his countries. Burgos has both American and El Salvadorean citizenships.
