The Montreal Impact announced Thursday that the Canadian Soccer Association has “acquitted” captain Nevio Pizzolitto in regards to an alleged spitting incident after the club was eliminated from the Nutrilite Canadian Championship by the Vancouver Whitecaps.Pizzolitto had been accused of spitting on a fan May 4 after the Impact lost to the Whitecaps in extra time at Empire Field.

Amateur-contract goalie Justin Ammar is still the back-up to veteran Rein Baart in the FC Edmonton net.Ammar is leaving with the team Thursday as it begins a three-game road trip to the southeastern United States, which kicks off Saturday in a match against the NASL-best Carolina RailHawks.
