Sounder Eddie Johnson wins MLS POTW By Steven Sandor Posted on September 10, 2012 Comments Off on Sounder Eddie Johnson wins MLS POTW 0 671 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Eddie Johnson If you are a Canadian soccer fan, you’d be forgiven for being absolutely oblivious to the fact that games were played in MLS this week. After all, the focus has been on the Canadian national team and World Cup qualifying, and the three Canadian MLS clubs were all idle this week. But, indeed, there were four matches played this week, and one performance stood out over the rest. Eddie Johnson scored twice for the Seattle Sounders as they rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Chivas USA 2-1. Johnson scored his 12th and 13th goals of the season. The 13 goals represents a new Seattle club high for a season. Both the goals came off Johnson’s head, the equalizer off a free kick and the winner off a cross from Fredy Montero in the 89th minute. How The 11 voted: Johnson. He got 17 of the 20 first-place votes from the membership of the North American Soccer Reporters, so we helped contribute to his landslide win.
