Dutch club PSV Eindhoven confirmed Tuesday that Canadian player of the year Atiba Hutchinson will need six weeks to recover from knee surgery.

Hutchinson went under the knife Monday to repair a meniscus injury, after returning to the Netherlands from Canada’s disappointing campaign at the Gold Cup. Hutchinson missed two of Canada’s three matches due to injury.

The team said it expects Hutchinson to resume full traning some time in August, meaning that he could be ready to answer Canada’s call for any World Cup qualifying duties in the September-November window CONCACAF has set aside for matches.

The six-week prognosis is actually good news. Before Hutchinson got the surgery done, the club had said that a worst-case scenario could see him miss three months.
