When FC Edmonton leaves Arizona Friday for Vancouver, the team will have the chance to be reunited with striker Yashir Pinto.

Pinto, arguably FCE’s highest-profile signing since Dutch midfielder Ilja Van Leerdam was brought in last summer, hasn’t been able to train with the team since it left for training camp in Arizona nearly two weeks ago. Pinto, a former Chilean U-20 team forward who is on a one-year loan from Colo-Colo, does not yet have the paperwork needed to work in the United States. So, when the team left Edmonton, Pinto had to stay behind.

But, with FCE returning to Canadian soil on Friday, Pinto is clear to join the team. FCE will play a friendly against the Vancouver Metro Soccer League all-stars on Saturday.

But Pinto won’t get the chance to play with his former Chilean U-20 teammate, Lester Benelli. The defender was brought in on trial, but won’t be continuing with the team. As well, B.C. product Diaz Kambere, who played one game with Toronto FC back in 2009, has also been cut.
