Irish striker and Los Angeles Galaxy Designated Player Robbie Keane was named the MLS Player of the Month for July.

Keane secured eight of the 22 first-place votes available from the membership of the North American Soccer Reporters.

Keane, who entered July with just four MLS goals this season and a disappointing winless campaign with Ireland at Euro 2012, scored five times in the month and added four assists. The Galaxy climbed back into contention in the Western Conference with a 4-1-1 record.

Alvaro Saborio, who had three two-goal games in July, finished second with six first-place votes.

How The 11 voted:
The Galaxy may have been hot in July, but there was one team that was even hotter — and that was the Houston Dynamo.

The Dynamo went undefeated In July, and a big reason for that was goalkeeper Tally Hall. He received a total of three first-place votes, including ours. While scoring a bunch of goals in a month is impressive, surrendering just one goal in six starts (for a 0.17 GAA in July) is just plain ridiculous. And that’s why went with Hall.
