Keane secured eight of the 22 first-place votes available from the membership of the North American Soccer Reporters. Keane, who entered July with just four MLS goals this season and a disappointing winless campaign with Ireland at Euro 2012, scored five times in the month and added four assists. The Galaxy climbed back into contention in the Western Conference with a 4-1-1 record. Alvaro Saborio, who had three two-goal games in July, finished second with six first-place votes.
