The players in the Canadian U-23 camp had to settle for a split against the Los Angeles-based MLS teams.

A Los Angeles Galaxy team without any of its three Designated Players — Juan Pablo Angel, David Beckham and Landon Donovan — had an easy time with our national Olympic hopefuls, winning 4-0 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

Former Toronto FC striker Chad Barrett played the first half for the Galaxy, but didn’t figure in on the scoring.

Miguel Lopez, Mike Magee (best known for scoring the Galaxy’s goal in the 2009 MLS Cup loss to Real Salt Lake), Jovan Kirovski and Adam Cristman all found the net for the home team.

Frankie Hejduk, the former Columbus Crew defender, provided the cross for Magee’s goal.

Regular Galaxy No. 1 keeper Donovan Ricketts also had the day off.

The Canadian U-23 side beat Chivas USA 2-0 three days ago.
