More shots from the continuing construction at Clarke Stadium… Again, thanks to FC Edmonton owner Tom Fath for sending along the photos.

The stadium is currently on schedule to have the new bleachers installed for the team’s next FC Edmonton home match — which is May 12 at 2 p.m. MT against the Atlanta Silverbacks. It will end an odyssey that lasted longer than a year, until the right permits could be attained to increase the capacity of FCE’s home park from 1,200 to 4,000.

It’s all about momentum. I’d suggest that because of the long winter and many away matches to start the season, many in Edm had soccer as out-of-sight, out-of-mind. As the spring weather improves, home matches are more frequent and the media adds column inches, more will see FC Edm as worth their sporting dollar… and even others will be attracted by the word-of-mouth. To quote Douglas Adams “Don’t Panic”.

Great. It would be even nicer if they got filled with fans. I still don’t understand how a match in the big stadium drew 3000 fans and cosy Clarke’s just 1000. If this trend goes on, should they be trying another timeslot? The other NASL-teams play on the Saturday evening. Maybe to attract a younger audience that can go to town afterwards. I mean 1000 with these stands-up would still not look good.
