FC Edmonton’s home matches have been broadcast on CBC.ca all season long — now the NASL team’s Aug. 4 telecast will jump to CBC TV.

The CBC and M31, the company that produces FCE’s broadcasts, finalized an agreement that will see Aug. 4‘s FC Edmonton-Minnesota Stars game broadcast on CBC, available to television viewers in parts of central and all of northern Alberta. The CBC’s Gareth Hampshire and yours truly will have the call.

The game will be available to all CBC viewers in Alberta north of Red Deer.

“CBC has shown a big commitment to the beautiful game and we’re extremely happy that the Eddies will be featured throughout Northern Alberta, live this summer,” said M31 Design Group executive producer Kori Chilibeck. “CBC is such a huge piece of Canada’s sports and culture fabric; I know the club is thrilled that they’ll have a chance to be a part of that.”

The Aug. 4 match will kick off at 7 p.m. MT from Clarke Stadium.

FC Edmonton has struggled this season on the pitch. The team sits at the bottom of the NASL standings, a point behind Atlanta. Before the CBC broadcast, the Eddies have two road games, at Atlanta and at the Tampa Bay Rowdies, in which they desperately need to try and build some momentum. After those two road matches, seven of the team’s final 10 matches of the regular season are at home.

For fans outside of the CBC’s regional FC Edmonton viewing area, the Aug. 4 match — and all other FCE home games — can be found on the Web at cbc.ca/edmonton/soccer. FCE’s home matches are also shown the following Wednesdays on tape delay on GolTV Canada.
