FC Edmonton signs Leroy, Porter driving to Alberta By Steven Sandor Posted on April 18, 2011 1 0 800 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter FC Edmonton has inked former Ottawa Fury defender Adrian Leroy to a contract. Leroy, who was on trial with the NASL club for the past two weeks, was offered the deal late last week, but the paperwork was sorted out as of Monday. Leroy started playing university soccer at Carleton University, then transferred to the NCAA, where he played a season at Maine before transferring again and finishing his collegiate career at Old Dominion. FC Edmonton is in Cary, N.C. preparing for Wednesday’s match against the Carolina RailHawks. With a win, FCE would sweep its inaugural NASL road trip and return home with a 3-0-0 record. Kyle Porter, who joined Leroy on trial, has yet to finalize a contract. But, he has been tweeting regularly from a long drive to Edmonton, where he is moving. So, while nothing has been made official, there can be some connecting of the dots. Adrian Leroy “Tomorrow, journey to Edmonton in the car is going to be a long one!!!!” he tweeted on April 16. Then, yesterday “Seen some nice things on our first part of the journey to Edmonton… rest time in Madison… back up again in a few hours.” He also retweeted some praise about FCE’s second win in a row. Porter left the Vancouver Whitecaps camp this spring, and was headed for a trial with the Impact. His arrival in FCE’s camp was a bit of a surprise. The only Canadian major pro club Porter hasn’t been linked to in 2011 is Toronto FC.
