FC Edmonton matches to be broadcast on Shaw Cable By Steven Sandor Posted on April 29, 2011 1 0 760 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter FC Edmonton’s home-game broadcasts will be available on Shaw TV. The team will not only be webcasting its home games on its website, as per NASL mandate, fans will also be able to watch matches on channel in the Edmonton area. Tape-delayed games will air Saturdays at 1 p.m. local time. Foote Field, the team’s home stadium, doesn’t have the facilities to do a live TV feed, but can accommodate live webcasts. The on-air crew will see the CBC’s Gareth Hampshire calling the play-by-play and, ahem, The 11’s Steven Sandor providing the colour. The 11 is pleased to be a part of FC Edmonton and Shaw’s broadcasts for the season. To hear Gareth’s preview of our coverage, link here. The first home webcast, available through FCEdmonton.com, goes Sunday at 7:30 p.m. MT, with FC Edmonton hosting the Montreal Impact at Foote Field. The pregame show begins at 7:15 p.m. MT. Gareth and I hope to provide fans with an in-depth package that goes beyond FC Edmonton, as we familiarize fans in the Alberta capital region with the NASL. In the past, I’ve done numerous radio appearances, including some guest-hosting on the Team 1260 in Edmonton. I enjoyed talking soccer on SUN TV and the Canoe website. Last season, I appeared as a guest colour commentator on ESPN 700 Salt Lake City, providing analysis from BMO Field for action between Toronto FC and Real Salt Lake. To be able to bring Edmonton fans closer to the action is an exciting opportunity.
