FC Edmonton acquires Arguez on loan from Montreal By Steven Sandor Posted on July 9, 2012 Comments Off on FC Edmonton acquires Arguez on loan from Montreal 0 695 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Bryan Arguez FC Edmonton has acquired American midfielder Bryan Arguez on loan from the Montreal Impact for the remainder of the season. And Eddies’ director of soccer Joe Petrone confirmed that FCE has an option to acquire Arguez outright at the end of the season. Arguez was with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in 2011, but the Impact snapped him up for its MLS roster. But Arguez hasn’t got a sniff with the Impact. FC Edmonton actually offered Arguez a deal last year, but he turned it down. His play with the Strikers impressed Petrone and the rest of the FC Edmonton brain trust, but Arguez wasn’t interested in coming to Edmonton at the time. “He was their best player last year,” Petrone said. “And he absolutely killed us in the playoffs last year (the Strikers beat FCE 5-0 in the first round of the NASL playdowns). “We have him for the next four months and we will see what happens. There is a ‘subject to’ clause to the deal. But four months is a long time. We will have to see if he likes it here and how he fits in with the team.” Petrone confirmed that the team is also looking to bring in two more import trialists. Details on those players could be revealed later in the week. FC Edmonton is seven points behind the Strikers for the final playoff spot in NASL.
