LeRoy, the Ottawa native who was part of the Eddies roster in 2011 and spent last season in the USL with Harrisburg City, is one of four Canadians on the roster for the NASL Combine, which runs Feb. 1-3 in Fort Lauderdale. More than 60 players will attend the combine. Robbie Tice, who played with the national futsal team at last year’s CONCACAF championship, was a former FC Edmonton trialist and also writes the “In These Boots” column for our friends over at Red Nation Online (CLICK HERE to check it out) will also be in Florida looking to catch the eye of an NASL coach. James Farenhorst, who finished on the PDL Conference All-Star team last season as a member of the Whitecaps’ U-23, will also be at the combine. Farenhorst is a former Trinity Western University standout — and that’s the same program that produced NASL Best XI defender Paul Hamilton. Josh Bennett will attend the combine after being named one of the best prospects at last fall’s MISL combine. Bennett played with the Hamilton FC Rage of the PDL and is a Simon Fraser alumnus. Also on the combine list is former Eddie Serisay Barthelemy. The French midfielder generated a lot of interest at the 2012 combine, and the Eddies won a battle to get his signature. But Barthelemy, like the club, endured a disappointing season which saw hm score The combine will also see French veteran Pascal Chimbonda take another shot at playing in North America. The French international defender came to the Montreal Impact in 2011 for a look-see, without telling Doncaster Rovers, the club that employed him at the time, that he was going over. The former Tottenham and Blackburn defender has been out of work since he and Doncaster parted ways in 2012.
