The ex-Saprissa man scored both of the Columbus Crew’s markers Saturday as it beat Sporting Kansas City by a 2-1 count. Nine of the 18 POTW ballots cast by the members of the North American Soccer Reporters had Arrieta as the No. 1 choice. Arrieta scored the first from inside the box after he shrugged off a defender; his second goal came on a wonder strike from what was officially pegged at 32 yards away from goal. How The 11 voted: Had to go with the Costa Rican. The fact that Arrieta’s two-goal performance included that wonder strike was the clincher. Our second place vote, though, went to the Montreal Impact’s Felipe, who finished third overall in the NASR voting this week. Felipe was involved in all three of his team’s goals in a 3-1 triumph over the New York Red Bulls, even though he was only officially credited with two helpers. It was yet another dynamite performance from Felipe, who is looking to be one of the best signings any MLS club has made in the past year.
