Cavallini gets the call for Canada’s do-or-die date in Honduras By Steven Sandor Posted on October 14, 2012 Comments Off on Cavallini gets the call for Canada’s do-or-die date in Honduras 0 521 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Lucas Cavallini Lucas CavalliniCanadian forward Lucas Cavallini is on his way from Uruguay to meet the national team in Honduras. Cavallini confirmed through his Twitter account that he has been called up by Canada senior men’s team coach Stephen Hart ahead of Tuesday’s do-or-die CONCACAF Group C finale against Honduras. Canada needs a win or a draw in Central America in order to qualify for the hex. Cavallini, who was Canada’s best weapon at the U-23 Olympic qualifiers in Nashville this past spring, will fill a spot that opened after forward Olivier Occean received a controversial red card in Friday’s 3-0 win over Cuba. While the Canadian Soccer Association hasn’t officially announced the move, Cavallini, who is under contract with Club Nacional but is on loan with Juventud de las Piedras, let his fans know about the call-up via his Twitter account. He said he was on his way to Honduras from Uruguay on a first-class flight, right after he scored for Juventud in a 1-1 draw with Fenix. “Thank you all for your tweets appreciate the support, really looking forward to playing this upcoming qualifier, full of confidence!” tweeted Cavallini.
