Veteran Cindy Walsh of the Laval Cometes and Edmonton native Sasha Andrews, a mainstay on the backline for the Pali Blues, got onto the All-Star Team. Andrews, played in the 2003 Women’s World Cup and was part of the Canadian squad who won silver at the famous 2002 U-19 Women’s World Championship — where Andrews got to perform in front of her hometown Edmonton fans. This past season, Andrews led a Pali Blues team that has yet to lose this season. Walsh, who was with the Canadian U-20 program in the early ‘90s, played in every minute of every game for Laval this season. The Ottawa Fury, who host the upcoming W-League Championship weekend, did not put a player on the All-Star roster. Last year, the team produced W-League MVP Mallory Outerbridge. The Vancouver Whitecaps women’s team was also shut out of the all-star team. Quebec City forward Imen Trodi, who registered 13 points this season, also made the All-Stars. The Tunisian forward and her teammates will have to face Andrews and the Pali Blues in the opening round of the W-League Championship this weekend. The 11 will have personnel on the ground in Ottawa to provide full coverage of this weekend’s championship.
