Ageless Sebrango named NASL Offensive Player of the Week By Steven Sandor Posted on August 16, 2011 Comments Off on Ageless Sebrango named NASL Offensive Player of the Week 0 602 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Eduardo Sebrango PHOTO: MONTREAL IMPACT/PÉPÉ Eduardo Sebrango may have a 38-year-old body, but he’s playing like he’s 10 years younger. The Montreal Impact forward, who came out of retirement earlier this season to help the club reverse its stuttering fortunes, was named the NASL’s Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Sebrango scored twice in a 3-3 draw with FC Tampa Bay and added an assist in a 4-0 win over the Atlanta Silverbacks. Sebrango now has five goals in just nine games since returning to the Impact. In fact, despite playing in just those nine matches, he leads the Impact in scoring. The Cuban-born Canadian citizen was got to the 100-goal mark in Division 2 soccer earlier this season. Against Tampa Bay, he played in his 200th career Division-2 match. When Sebrango retired in April, he said: ““It’s a difficult decision for me because I still have the passion and energy to play and live the life of a pro player.” Well, that wasn’t a lie. Because, when he returned, he brought needed energy to the Impact offence. And while Montreal is still seven points out of a playoff spot — Sebrango has been the major reason the club still has a slim chance at the post-season. Wonder if he’ll get the chance to play in MLS next season…. as a 39-year-old?
