The team announced the deal Monday. Richter was a Supplemental Draft pick of the Philadelphia Union back in 2011; he was signed, but didn’t get into an MLS game for the club. We was later loaned to Harrisburg City of the USL, but didn’t get much playing time there, either. He was released by the Union at the end of the season. Ryan Richter The LaSalle University product spent 2012 with the Charleston Battery, and became a regular starter for a team that went on to win the third-division title. It’s not the first time TFC has dipped into the USL well for a defender. Last year, TFC was able to pluck Logan Emory from Orlando City, before he even played a division-three game with the club. Emory had come to OC after spending 2011 with the Puerto Rico Islanders of the NASL, but TFC liked what they saw of Emory and he made the move up to MLS after spending some time in camp with Orlando.
