If, last July, someone was to predict that Toronto FC would be the last MLS team standing in the CONCACAF Champions League, they’d have been offered some pretty sweet odds.

Last week, NASL confirmed that 14 of its 2011 alumni were on MLS rosters heading into opening weekend. Now, Emory is added to that list.

Four days before the team is supposed to gather in Sunrise, Fla. for a pre-Olympic qualifying camp, the Canadian Soccer Association has officially announced the 23-player roster.

After a less-than-impressive showing at training camp, Ecuadorean centre back Geovanny Caicedo has been cut loose by Toronto FC.

"The city definitely delivered tonight and they felt like a 12th man," said midfielder Terry Dunfield. "It's too bad, the script was waiting for us to hold on and take that 2-1 score to L.A."

“It’s OK. It’s not desirable,” said Galaxy Head Coach Bruce Arena. “Obviously, neither team would prefer to be on this surface but they’ve done a good job getting it ready.”

Danny Koevermans: “We’re underdogs. We’ve got everything to win and they have everything to lose. They are the champions. They won it all last season so it’s a nice game for us to see where we stand.”

Canadian defender Diaz Kambere, a former Vancouver Whitecap who also had a one-game stint with Toronto FC back in 2008, has joined FC Edmonton as a trialist.

The Whitecaps won the preseason tournament with a 1-0 result over Toronto FC, as Camilo weaved through a group of TFC teenagers and then scored from a very tight angle.
