If a looming Amway Canadian Championship semifinal against the Vancouver Whitecaps wasn’t enough to get the minds of FC Edmonton’s players off of Sunday’s crushing 4-3 defeat to Minnesota, two training sessions on the same day in blustery 4C temperatures did the trick.

But the team’s staff is planning to place flyers and posters around Vancouver’s downtown core, promoting FC Edmonton and taking some jabs at the Whitecaps.

If Rennie decides to field a lot of the RailHawks players when the Whitecaps face FC Edmonton, look for a tasty matchup. Remember that there were several incidents — shoving matches and scuffles in the tunnel — when FCE and Carolina faced each other last season.

What this column won't do is make an attack on Toronto itself. It's counterproductive. It's simple. Coach Stephen Hart was given final say on the venues for the qualifiers, and he went with Toronto. It's his decision. So, Hart's Toronto call should be judged just as fans judge a correct or incorrect roster selection or tactical decision.
