Coach Ryan Nelsen and newly acquired forward Jeremy Brockie will be joined by new assistant coach Duncan Oughton. The former Columbus Crew midfielder and defender was announced as the newest addition to the Reds’ coaching staff on Wednesday. Duncan Oughton Oughton had been an umapologetic Columbus Crew loyalist. He spent all of his MLS career with that club and, after retiring as a player in 2010, had been a member of the team’s coaching staff. Oughton made 27 appearances for New Zealand and scored twice . After being drafted in 2001, Oughton was pretty much a Crew regular till 2005, when a knee injury hampered his career. The Crew released but then later re-signed Oughton, but the player never got to play the sort of minutes he did before his battle with injuries. “Duncan knows the league inside and out, and what it takes to be successful in the league,” said Nelsen in a release issued by the TFC front office. “I’ve known him for many years and I know he will be a great addition to the fantastic staff we have here at Toronto FC.”
