Anthony Adur With all of the club’s seven international spots taken and a limited NASL budget at his disposal, the FC Edmonton boss is finding that the market for strikers and attacking midfielders is tough one. “Everyone is looking for that little gem that can help them,” said Miller on Thursday, as the Eddies continued their preparations for the NASL fall season, which kicks off in the first weekend of August. “It makes it very tough.” Miller has been in talks with five separate MLS teams about possible loan deals for attacking players, but none have yet produced a prospect that can help bolster Edmonton’s league-worst offence. Miller spoke to two players on Thursday; one decided to refuse the chance to come to Edmonton, while the other, a former Canadian youth international who has played in Europe, is “50-50.” The coach confirmed that an attacking midfielder has been signed and will be with the team July 31. Right now, FC Edmonton has midfielders David Zaharija and Dominic Oppong for the week. On Friday, Anthony Adur (also known as Anthony Bahadur), a former Maccabi Haifa youth team forward who has also played in Singapore and Thailand, will join the Eddies on trial. “I’m only looking at those two areas (attacking midfielders and strikers),” said Miller. “Otherwise, I am happy with the squad and I don’t see the need to make changes.”
