His two-goal effort helped earned the Red Bulls a 2-2 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday in front of more than 41,000 fans at Stanford Stadium — and it also earned him the MLS Player of the Week nod. Lindpere came out on top after the ballots from the North American Soccer Reporters were counted. Lindpere opened the scoring just seven minutes into the match after he slid a shot just inside the post, rounding out a fantastic tic-tac-toe passing move that cut the Earthquakes’ backline to shreds. And, his 85th-minute deflected strike quieted the Bay Area crowd, bringing New York level. How The 11 voted: Lindpere got the nod. Even though the second goal glanced off the head of Quakes’ defender Bobby Burling, the Red Bulls’ resident Estonian did a great job staying with the play and creating a second-chance scoring opportunity after an initial effort was blocked. Still, it wasn’t an easy choice. Houston Dynamo keeper Tally Hall put on an absolute clinic in preserving a 0-0 draw with the Colorado Rapids that his side hardly deserved. A two-goal loss should have been the ticket, but Hall committed several acts of robbery. He got the second-place vote.
