Simeon Jackson
Simeon Jackson will likely be plying his trade in the English Premier League next season.

Jackson’s second-half goal gave Norwich City a 1-0 victory over Portsmouth in the penultimate match of the League Championship season, ensuring the Canaries will finish second in the table and earn automatic promotion to the Premiership.

For the Mississauga, Ont. product, the goal continued his hot streak to finish the season. He has scored nine times in Norwich’s last seven matches.

After missing a great chance just minutes earlier, Jackson headed home a cross from David Fox five minutes into the second half.

Jackson was Canada’s player of the year in 2009 and will no doubt be asked to carry a heavy load for the national team when the Gold Cup kicks off in June. Coach Stephen Hart had been experimenting with Jackson in a wide role in recent friendlies, but you have to wonder, with the success Jackson is enjoying at Norwich, if Hart will move Jackson back up top.
