Canada’s lineup for the U-17 World Cup will be almost identical to the squad coach Sean Fleming brought to Jamaica for the CONCACAF Championship.

Canada lost the CONCACAF championship game to the United States 3-0 in extra time, after a great run in the tourney which saw it go from the round-robin through to the 90-minute mark of the championship game without giving up a goal.

The only new additions to the Canadian fold are both from Toronto FC Academy: Defender Tyler Pasher and keeper Chad Bush.

“It will be a great challenge,” said Canadian U-17 head coach Sean Fleming in a release from the Canadian Soccer Association. “The team has prepared to the best of its ability and now we hope to give a good showing for Canada.”

Before Canada kicks off the U-17 World Cup June 19 in Mexico against Uruguay, it will play friendlies against Ecuador on June 11 and Australia June 13.

TFC Academy sent a total of eight players to the national team, two more than the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy. Of course, TFC Academy would have had nine players on the team, but forward Keven Aleman and TFC parted ways last month after the teenager didn’t sign an exclusivity deal that would have pledged his future to the club.

Aleman is unattached, but is expected to lead the team’s offensive thrusts as it looks to go deep into the U-17 World Cup.
