FC Edmonton and FC Dallas trialist returns for PASL championship By Steven Sandor Posted on March 13, 2011 1 0 816 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter The well-traveled Dan Antoniuk ended up making a difference in the PASL-Pro North American Championship game, after all. Antoniuk, the journeyman striker who spent the 2006 season with the Montreal Impact, was on trial with NASL’s FC Edmonton this week in Arizona, scoring once in a span of two impressive appearances. The San Diego Sockers, his indoor team, reported that he would miss the PASL semifinals because he would be going for a trial at FC Dallas. But, Antoniuk was in Cincinnati Saturday, helping the Sockers defend their crown, as they beat Mexico’s Guerreros de La Raza de Guadalajara 10-6 in the PASL final. Antoniuk scored in the victory. League sources have indicated that Antoniuk’s trial with FC Dallas may be off, that the club has filled the roster spot it had open — and it doesn’t need to see Antoniuk anymore. Either way, making FCD would be a longshot for a man who has earned more than his share of frequent flyer miles playing in the USL and in pro indoor leagues. As MLS teams finalize their rosters, we should have an idea if Antoniuk will head back to Arizona to continue his trial with FC Edmonton or not.
